welcome to the fourth grade

I’m going to be a teacher. The offer came from Memphis City Schools today, and I’ll start working on my paperwork next week.

I’m completely ecstatic, overwhelmed, terrified – pretty much every feeling imaginable! The principal seems fantastic. We have the same alma mater (well, my soon-to-be alma mater) and I’ve heard great reviews of the school. She seems really passionate about community and parent involvement. I’m tentatively going to teach fourth grade, which is a bit older than I expected, but still so welcome!

My mom has taught fourth and fifth grade, so she’s absolutely ecstatic. I got home today for spring break and found “Congratulations, Miss M” on  a chalkboard and my pre-Institute work waiting for me. My principal will be sending me a reading list soon and adding me on to all of the staff e-mails.

This is really, actually happening.

Congratulations! I am so happy to be teaching 4th grade here in TN — old enough to get into some interesting information, but still young enough that they’re excited by school!

That’s great to hear! I love your blog – I’ve been following it all year!

  2. Congratulations on the job! See you soon!

  3. Congrats! I’m also headed to Memphis, but haven’t had any interviews or anything just yet :( I’m jealous!
